Figure 5r. Norseman Higginsville original magnetics and EagleEye magnetics comparison.
Objective.
To obtain good, reliable structural geology at Norseman from an EagleEye definition of an Australia wide magnetic compilation. The first section of the definition process is on my Website – follow link – https://www.geotreks.com.au/work/australian-aeromagnetics-eagleeye-enhancing-a-continental-magnetics-image-to-define-norseman-structural-geology/ .
The aim is to produce a plan that can be used as a base for field mapping, lithological and structural analysis and exploration targeting. This is what EagleEye has been designed to do!
Results.
A. Shows the Australia wide compilation magnetic image from which the Norseman area was excised.
B. Shows the fuzziness of the excision of the Australia-wide magnetics at this scale. Note that no structure or lithology can be seen. This is as expected as the image has been enlarged approximately 70 times.
C. An EagleEye defined image that has been optimised to make visible the stratigraphy. Only a few linears are seen. The geology resembles the geology of Norseman.
D. An EagleEye image designed to highlight the linear structures and define the stratigraphy more clearly. Once again linears are seen and the stratigraphy is more defined.
The big question is – Do the structures and stratigraphy REPRESENT THOSE SEEN AT NORSEMAN? Get out your geology plans 🙂 .
THE NEXT POST MAY ANSWER THAT QUESTION.
Cheers
