Between the 5th and 8th August 2006 I traveled through Yellowstone NP in Wyoming. It was a bit of an eyeopener and is part of one of the biggest volcanic centres in the world. An example of the power of nature is the Old Faithful Geyser shown above and the active cutting power of the rivers in the soft multi-coloured volcanic rocks shown below.
